Following a successful test at Brands Hatch with Paul Burt & F1 legend Steve Nichols in March the team will move to Snetterton for the first round of the Classic FF2000 Championship over the Easter weekend. Andy, Paul and the entire www.andypowellracing.co.uk team have high hopes for the weekend. Watch this space for weekend updates;
Paul Burt drove both fast and consistently in a very useful pre-race day test at Snetterton today. Paul was second fasted of all the FF2000 cars consistently quicker than the professional works cars and drivers. Pauls Fastest lap was 1:17;6, seven tenths faster than his previous personal best. Following such competitive times the team is confident it can re-produce this form over the next two days of competition.
A great qualifying performance from Paul Burt put the www.andypowellracing.co.uk Van Diemen RF82 3rd fastest and on the second row of the grid for race 1.
PAUL BURT ACHIEVES 1st FF2000 PODIUM FINISH:
Congratulations to Paul Burt and the entire www.andypowellracing.co.uk team for finishing the first round of the FF2000 championship in second and scoring Paul Burts first ever FF2000 podium. Paul was running a strong third when mechanical failure forced Scott Temple to retire. Paul then drove a wonderfully consistent race to bring the car home in second place overall. Well done Paul.
Paul Burt once again put in a great performance in difficult conditions to put the www.andypowellracing.co.uk Van Diemen RF82 3rd fastest and on the second row of the grid for race 2.
Following a fantastically well driven race in appalling wet weather conditions Paul Burt was lying 3rd on the last corner of the last lap when he was overtaken under waved yellow flags and ROBBED of his second podium finish of the weekend. Following an hour of protests with officials the result was declared with Paul officially classified as 5th much to the disgust of the entire team.
Despite this disappointment the team will once again compete at Brands Hatch in May and will fight of podium positions once more. Congratulations to Paul Burt for an outstanding drive.
